September may mark the end of summer, but it definitely marks the time we need to prepare ourselves for the upcoming basketball season. Getting your bodies ready is an important process of getting ready for the season.
If you aren't running, lifting and working on your skills - you gotta get going on it. By the time the season starts you should be able to run 2 - 3 miles worth of sprints - not jogging. That's because a player who is in shape is going to be more competitive and ready for the rigorous practices and games than the person who decides to come out and "try" out basketball.
Lifting weights is also something you should be doing. A regular weightlifting program will ensure that you can fend off defenders going up for a shot and will also give you the confidence that you are a stronger individual than the person you are competing against during any one-on-one situation. As a team, this will also build confidence that we can push through obstacles that may come our way.
Tomorrow will mark the beginning of our pre-season workouts. Come and get ready because the time is NOW.
