Basketball Tryouts

Hello Lady Wolverines! I just found out that the official start date for basketball this year will begin on November 12, 2018. If you know anyone interested in playing basketball this year at the high school level, you need to let them know about this very important date. This will be the first official practice which also means you will want to make sure you are taking care of business in the classroom.

Being a student-athlete is something that you should not take for granted. In many big schools tryouts mean that there are "cuts" and that everyone who comes out does not get to play ball. Unless 50 girls show up to the first day of practice, I do not foresee a necessity for cutting anyone in the program. However, I do prioritize the "student" part of student-athlete as the primary piece of becoming a Lady Wolverine. We want to demonstrate excellence in the classroom and my expectation is that we are excellent in our endeavor to become great student-athletes.

Most teachers are more than happy to help you if you ask for it, but see little value in reaching out to an uninterested and under-motivated student. Being a Lady Wolverine means that we strive to continually improve in all areas of our lives. Make your education your priority.

In terms of tryouts, we will have 3 phases to determine which players best fit each team. The varsity program, junior varsity program and "C" team. We want to fill 3 teams because it will provide you with the most playing experience. Ideally, we have 24 or more players commit to this team this year which will provide us more game opportunities and give you more experience.

I hope that you will be ambassadors for this basketball program. I'm so excited to see your improvement on the court, in the classroom and in the hallways as Lady Wolverines!

See you soon!
